PUBG-skaperne vurderer søksmål mot Fortnite

Tidligere denne uken kunne Epic Games fortelle at den kommende Battle Royale-modusen til Fortnite vil være gratis, noe som helt klart viser at de ønsker å kjempe mot inspirasjonskilden PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Det kan virke som om skaperne av sistnevnte merket seg dette.

Nå har vi nemlig fått en pressemelding hvor Bluehole-sjefen Chang Han Kim ikke høres særlig fornøyd ut med det Epic gjør:

"We've had an ongoing relationship with Epic Games throughout PUBG's development as they are the creators of UE4, the engine we licensed for the game. After listening to the growing feedback from our community and reviewing the gameplay for ourselves, we are concerned that Fortnite may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known.

We have also noticed that Epic Games references PUBG in the promotion of Fortnite to their community and in communications with the press. This was never discussed with us and we don't feel that it's right."

At de føler seg ukomfortable med at Fortnite sin nye modus ligner veldig på PUBG-konseptet kan jeg forstå, men så er vel ikke akkurat Brendan Greene sitt spill det første som bruker Battle Royale-konseptet heller. Dette har tydeligvis Bluehole glemt, for det kan faktisk høres ut som om de vurderer å saksøke Epic for å "kopiere" dem:

"The PUBG community has and continues to provide evidence of the many similarities as we contemplate further action."

Er det bare jeg som synes Kim og Bluehole er litt på bærtur her?
